Introduction
There are many ways to use paint, and one of them is the centuries-old art of decorative -- or "faux", as some call it -- painting. Decorative painting is essentially a strategy of broken color. By breaking color into semi-transparent layers through the use of glazing fluid of one kind or another, a multitude of effects can be achieved, from marble to stone to wood to -- well, you name it. Not to deny the use of the usual opaque coatings, though. The broken and the opaque can be used alone or together, multiplying the aesthetic possibilities in their interplay.
