PAINTSMITHink™ has been formed to promote and publish the many works of art and literature related to the fictional character of Atom Johnson and the world of his imagination.
It is a company committed to quality, to beauty and to the very things which enchant Atom Johnson.
Atom Johnson, as created, is an artist at once captivated and inspired by the apparent physical/spiritual bond in all of us and by the incredible mystery and versatility of the written word. Through the use of marble dust and dry pigments from around the globe, he produces original canvas art works that glow with colour, potential and memory. These works are “scapes” of a kind - essences of things unseen -- ATOMscapes™. And these in turn he weaves into the text of his fictional world.
THE VISION
We at PAINTSMITHink are committed to the creative process in a vocational and spiritual sense, hoping to produce something beautiful from this very earth, something eternally winsome and fruitfully allusive.
In addition to the original art produced by Atom Johnson, our goal is to produce high-quality Limited Edition prints and related decorator items such as the ATOMscape™ Quadrati™, allowing the art to be accessible to many people in various forms. We will also be publishing a series of Atom Johnson novels from which all this creativity comes.
THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
DARREL SPENST, CREATOR
Darrel Spenst has been a painter and freelance writer for over twenty years (not always under his own name). Self-taught in nearly every respect, he has developed his two art forms through a personal process designed to deepen his understanding not only of the media of art, the surfaces upon which they are traditionally presented and the written word, but to relate those raw materials to theoretical aspects concerning their implementation in various historical contexts. His vision is to fuse these two arts -- painting and writing -- into not only a creative form capable of the most beautiful of expression, a form afloat on the mysteries of faith and reality, but also a creative business whose focus is global, whose heart is philanthropical and whose operations are profitable.
SANDRA KOLARCIK, BUSINESS MANAGER
Sandra Kolarcik is a Chartered Accountant with fifteen years professional practice experience spanning a variety of industries as a senior external auditor and contract internal controller. The last seven years have been spent in her own accounting practice. Significant direct focus has been in completing audits, reviews and notice to reader engagements, preparation of corporate and personal tax returns, bookkeeping for owner-managed businesses, and preparation of financial statements. She has extensive experience building and maintaining responsibility for proforma budgets, forecasts, and all operational financial controls in high growth private company environments. Her vision now is to join Darrel in creating a company that will bring beautiful works of paint and prose into existence.
